Following the example of Henri Rivière, part of Chadel’s engraved body of work focuses on Breton landscapes, such as this view of Port-Rhu in Douarnenez. It was during his stay in the Cornouaille region of Finistère in the early 1920s that the artist produced four woodcuts, from which our print is taken.
