Gustave MÉQUILLET
Paris 1829 – ? 1878
Gustave Méquillet pursued a military career while developing his artistic practice as an amateur. In 1872, he married Thérèse Meissonier and went on to refine his art under the guidance of his father-in-law, Ernest Meissonier. Although he continued his career in the army, he distinguished himself as a talented watercolorist. An avid traveler, he also drew inspiration from his journeys throughout France, Corsica, and North Africa, producing numerous works, particularly landscapes. He exhibited four times at the Salon between 1873 and 1878.
