François-Guillaume MÉNAGEOT
Londres 1744 – Paris 1816
A member of the Academy and painter to the king, François-Auguste Ménageot was a student of Jean-Baptiste Deshays and later of François Boucher. While his early works followed in the tradition of his masters, he quickly developed a new appreciation for classical antiquity. His works, in fact, reflect a duality between the Rococo tradition and neoclassical sensibilities.
