Galerie Paul Prouté

After studying for a year at the Municipal School of Fine Arts in Bordeaux (1889), Marcel-Béronneau enrolled at the National School of Decorative Arts as a boarding student from Paris, with a scholarship from the city of Bordeaux. In 1892, he left his hometown for Paris after being admitted to Gustave Moreau’s studio at the National School of Fine Arts. There he met Georges Rouault, with whom he would share a studio on Boulevard Montparnasse. Alongside the Symbolist influences he maintained throughout his life, he produced so-called decorative works (the Ajaccio Casino in 1928), genre paintings, studio interiors, still lifes, landscapes, and portraits of women.
