Pierre-Victor GALLAND
1822 - 1892
Introduced to goldsmithing by his father, it was finally in the workshops of the architect Henri Labrouste, and the painters Michel-Martin Drolling and Pierre-Luc-Charles Cicéri that Pierre-Victor Galland found his vocation. He became one of the most famous decorators of the Second Empire and then of the Third Republic, and his international reputation continued to grow right up to the end of his life. His intense activity earned him the nickname of the ‘Tiepolo of the bankers’.
