Adrienne Farb draws inspiration from the surrounding natural environment—beginning with the urban landscape—to create new spaces defined by color. Through the motif of colored bands interspersed with white, and the serial nature of her work, her art highlights the importance of the gesture and exudes great energy, even though it is color above all that governs the emotion: “Striving to find a visual choreography in my painting, seeking to produce the feeling of a ‘becoming’ created by color.” These unexpected juxtapositions of color, these intensities and chromatic nuances, are rooted in nature yet transcend it. The rhythms of the colorful movements coexist with isolated, silent moments. The purity of form, emotional power, and intensity are my artistic priorities.”
