Fine impression on ancient laid paper, watermarked and annotated with ancient writings with pen and black ink, from the final state, after the removal of the horizontal line through the sunshade on the left of the central group, from a posthumous edition of 40 impressions made on 18 April 1904 by Frederick Goulding at the request of Rosalind Birnie Philip (first edition of 28 impressions realised by Way in 1894), yellow spots on borders, spots of binding holes along the left border
Watermark: arms of Strasbourg (Spink, Stratis and Tedeschi. watermark 300, characteristic of posthumous impressions)
Stamp of Rosalind Birnie Philips (Lugt 405 applied by the artist’s sister-in-law in 1935 when the collection was donated to the Glasgow Museum)
