This plate is part of a set of three other subjects: Le Vigilant, and two subjects known by the titles Qui trop embrasse mal étreint and Le Repos du Monde. Baron Guérin, who had been appointed to a commission to examine Engelmann’s lithographs, produced them in order to experiment with the process. He did not produce any more lithographs thereafter.
