Falguière’s painting entitled Salome and the Executioner, ca. 1877, was part of the Rodin collection. Today it is on display at the Hôtel Biron (Inv. P. 7294). Only the figure of Salome appears in our drawing, in a pose identical to the one in the painting. The latter probably corresponds to number 248 in the catalogue of Falguière’s works exhibited at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in 1902 (Les artistes de tous les temps, Alexandre Falguière par Léonce Bénédite).
