Louis Étienne WATELET

Louis Etienne Watelet exhibited at the Salon regularly throughout the first half of the 19th century. He exhibited landscapes drawn from his countless journeys through the French, Tyrolean and Savoyard countryside. Described as a ‘reformer’ by Paul Huet, his work, imbued with great sincerity, helped to spread the Romantic taste, particularly among the landscape artists he trained in his studio.
