Philippe MOHLITZ

Real name Émile-Philippe Magaudoux, Philippe Mohlitz was born in 1941 near Bordeaux. In 1965, he joined the engraving classes run by Jean Delpech in Paris, where he worked alongside Erik Desmazières and François Houtin. Combining a fantastic and religious imagination close to surrealism with an exceptionally meticulous burin technique, his work soon attracted attention. In 1971, Mohlitz was awarded the Florence Gould Prize and became a resident at the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid. In 2000, he was awarded the Grand Prix Léon-Georges Baudry by the Taylor Foundation.
