Born in Barcelona in 1972, Esther Medir is a Catalan artist whose work centres on line, material and colour. After studying law, she devoted herself to art, focusing in particular on printmaking.
Nature is a key source of inspiration for her work. Her explorations draw on landscapes, light and geological phenomena, ranging from the cosmos to the forms and textures of rock. These observations are translated into an abstract language in which line, mark and material become the elements of a reflection on space and perception.

Printmaking occupies a central place in her practice, particularly etching and drypoint. Working directly on the metal plate and the variations inherent in the process allow her to explore the possibilities of line and material, striking a balance between technical mastery and room for the unexpected.
