Théodore LABROUSTE
1799 - 1885
A pupil of Antoine Vaudoyer and Hippolyte Lebas, Labrouste the elder was admitted to the École des Beaux-Arts in 1817, where he won the Grand Prix for architecture ten years later. In Rome, he joined his younger brother Henri Labrouste, who was awarded the Grand Prix in 1824, as well as the architects who were to mark his generation, all of whom were friends of his: Félix Duban, Joseph-Louis Duc and Léon Vaudoyer.
