Jean-Baptiste Arthur CALAME
1843-1919
The son and pupil of Alexandre Calame, Arthur is best known as a landscape painter. After spending two years at the Düsseldorf Academy, he travelled to Italy, where he produced a number of watercolour landscapes, in particular views of Venice, but it was in Switzerland that he found his main source of inspiration. He exhibited in Geneva, where he lived, as well as in Lyon, Dijon and Paris.
