Arthur AESCHBACHER

Arthur Aeschbacher trained at the Académie Julian and attended Fernand Léger’s studio in Paris after leaving the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Geneva. From his first solo exhibition in 1951, his interest in letters, the motifs of his compositions, can be clearly seen in his collages, first with print characters and then, in the 1960s, with posters. In the same way that his work with typography does not allow him to be associated with the Lettrists, he works with the language of the poster without being associated with the poster artists of the New Realism and delivers works that are both close to the artistic creation of his time but nevertheless singular.
