Amélie Beaury-Saurel est élève à l’Académie Julian, alors seul endroit où les femmes et les étrangers peuvent se former. Portraitiste à succès, elle est également en charge de l’atelier des femmes à l’Académie. A la mort de son mari, le fondateur Rodolphe Julian, elle reprend la direction de l’école.

Amélie Beaury-Saurel is a student at the Académie Julian, then the only place where women and foreigners can learn. A successful portrait painter, she is also in charge of the women’s atelier at the Academy. On the death of her husband, the founder Rodolphe Julian, she took over the management of the school.
