Alexis de Broca avait fait l’Ecole des Beaux-arts. Il vécut à Nantes – où il avait son atelier – ainsi que sur la côte bretonne, voyagea en Afrique du Nord, en Espagne et en Italie, d’où il rapporta de nombreux tableaux. On connaît également de lui des dessins sur la guerre de 1914-1918. Il était le grand-père du cinéaste Philippe de Broca.

Alexis de Broca had attended the School of Fine Arts. He lived in Nantes – where he had his studio – as well as on the Brittany coast, he travelled in North Africa, Spain and Italy, from where he brought back many paintings. He is also known for his drawings of the 1914-1918 war. He was the grandfather of the filmmaker Philippe de Broca.
